Topics

The conveners have identified the following topics for focus, but commentary on the list and additions are welcome from the community. We want the workshop to be as inclusive as possible.

  1. Environmental Change
    1. Climate Change and the Global Environment, including high-resolution Quaternary climate change (Keynoter: James Russell),
    2. Climate and Human Evolution (Keynoter: Chris Campisano), and
    3. Deep Time records (Earth history, sea-level history and stratigraphic architecture, and very long term climate record; Keynoter: Paul Olsen).
  2. Geodynamics
    1. Magmatism, hotspots, volcanic processes (Keynoter: Don DePaolo).
    2. Fault mechanics and the seismogenic zone, including recurrence times of earthquakes (Keynoter: Stephen Hickman).
  3. Impact Structures and Processes (Keynoter: David Kring).
  4. Natural resources and environmental issues
    1. Geothermal resources, hydrothermal systems, and natural hazards related to sector collapse and landslides on volcanoes.
    2. Ground water
    3. CO2 sequestration
  5. Deep Geobiosphere (Keynoter: Thomas Kieft)
